 | Arsenal 3 - 0 Newcastle (364)
31/08/2008
In the third minute at the Emirates, Gallas missed a great chance at the back post to put Arsenal ahead and as Arsenal dominated the early exchanges Toure saw his stinging shot go just wide. Robin van Persie gave Arsenal the lead from the penalty spot after N’Zogbia had handled an Adebayor cross. On the half-hour Given saved well from a van Persie free-kick. Four minutes before the break Robin van Persie grabbed his and Arsenal’s second, finishing off a fine move led by Eboue who backheeled to the Dutchman. Although Newcastle got into the game a little after the break (Butt hit the bar with a header), Denilson killed the game off with the third just before the hour - finishing off a fine move. Seconds after the third goal, van Persie smacked a shot against the bar. |

Arsenal hit back in the second half, Eboue delivered a delicious right wing cross and Emmanuel Adebayor powered home a header. In the 73rd minute Arsenal drew level, a poor backpass was intercepted by Adebayor and he picked out Bendtner, who scored. | | Stuttgart 1 - 3 Arsenal (229)
30/07/2008
After a goalless first half, Stuttgart carved Arsenal open straight through the middle as Turkish legend Basturk turned and struck low and hard for the opener. Arsenal weren’t behind for long, Bendtner worked his way in from the right hand side, played a lovely pass forward to Carlos Vela, and the young Mexican controlled the ball on his thigh before firing high in the net. Moments later it was Vela who was the provider, with Bendtner staying strong to take the ball in the box and fire past Jens Lehmann. The Gunners turnaround was completed with a fine third created by Gael Clichy, who bustled down the left hand side before crossing to Jack Wilshere who controlled and hit a low hard shot inside the near post. |

 | Burgenland XI 2 - 10 Arsenal (1093)
28/07/2008
A very youthful Arsenal team took on Burgenland XI, a side made up of an assortment of Austrian players, and the Gunners got off the mark within the first minute. Traore burst down the left, crossed into Jack Wilshere, and his scuffed shot somehow went in. Bendtner scored a quick-fire brace, Carlos Vela then got in on the act, before Bendtner completed his hat-tick in the demolition. Vela added another, Bendtner got his fourth, making it 7-0 to Arsenal before the break. (First half highlights here.) Soon after the restart Vela claimed his hat-trick, Wilshere added another from the spot, and sub-Walcott also got in on the act. Unbelievably, Burgenland then pulled two goals back to restore a little pride. |

Everton went close when Fabianski saved from AJ and Denilson had to clear off the line from the resulting corner. Just after the half hour Eboue went close to breaking the deadlock. (First-half highlights here.) Jens Lehmann replaced Fabianski after the break to a warm applause (will this be the German’s last appearance for Arsenal at the Emirates?), but the crowd had much more to celebrate when sub-Traore picked out Bendtner who headed the Gunners into the lead. The Gunners held on for the victory, which ensures the fight for fifth place will be determined on the final day of the season. |
| | Derby County 2 - 6 Arsenal (681)
28/04/2008
Nicklas Bendtner put Arsenal in front at Pride Park after a one-two with Van Persie. A minute later the Dutchman was guilty of a shocking miss after great play by Walcott. Just after the half-hour the Rams equalised, James McEveley poked home from close range after a cross from Robbie Savage. And Arsenal re-took the lead nine minutes later through Robin Van Persie, who had all the time in the world, to take a 2-1 lead into the break. Substitute Emmanuel Adebayor extended the Gunners lead from close range just before the hour mark. But Derby would not lie down and Robert Earnshaw pulled a goal back and celebrated with aplomb. But Arsenal finished off the game with quick goals from Theo Walcott (assured finish) and two more for Adebayor on 80 (funky celebration) and 90 (what was Carroll doing?) |

After Fabregas and Adebayor had spurned early chances at the Emirates, the Gunners did take the lead on the half-hour mark thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor’s 27th goal of the season. Minutes later Bikey deflected a long-range effort from the much-maligned Gilberto to make it 2-0. (First-half highlights here.) Arsenal continued to dominate in the second period, Van Persie was so close with a free-kick that had Hahnemann well beaten and seconds later Theo Walcott clipped the bar. |
| | Manchester United 2 - 1 Arsenal (947)
13/04/2008
Arsenal had the first good chance of the game, but Ferdinand denied Adebayor after Eboue had delivered from the right. Manchester United put together a lovely move when Evra set Ronaldo free down the left, he cut inside and fed Rooney, but Lehmann saved well at his near post. Rooney then had a second great chance, a poor decision from Song to let the ball run allowed Rooney through on goal, but his shot went the wrong side of the post. (First half highlights here.) Arsenal put the cats amongst the pigeons when Adebayor gave them the lead from Van Persie’s cross, but the goal should have been ruled out for a clear handball. Then, copying events at Anfield, Arsenal immediately shot themselves in the foot when Gallas gave away a penalty, ironically for handball, and Ronaldo dispatched the penalty and the initial spot kick was forced to be retaken for encroachment. (Longer footage of the penalty here.) United then completed the comeback when a free-kick in Ronaldo territory was taken by Hargreaves, whose brilliant surprise shot beat Lehmann all ends up. |

 | Arsenal 1 - 1 Liverpool (778)
02/04/2008
Arsenal took the lead against Liverpool when Robin van Persie delivered in a delightful inswinging cross, and Adebayor, negligently free in a crowded box, headed home the opener. But Liverpool have a strong European reputation for a reason, and captain fantastic Steven Gerrard showed skill and close control to attack down the left, and Dirk Kuyt was well positioned to prod in the valuable equaliser. The Gunners came out more purposeful in the second-half and were denied a cast-iron penalty when Hleb was yanked down by Kuyt. Minutes later Arsenal only had themselves to blame when Bendtner was trapped on the line by Fabregas’ shot, deflecting the ball away from safety with no Liverpool defenders in sight. Liverpool held on for a draw, knowing that the away goal gives them the edge for the second leg at Anfield. |
| | Chelsea 2 - 1 Arsenal (3883)
23/03/2008
Almunia easily saved a Ballack free-kick after six minutes at the Bridge. Arsenal dominated the early exchanges and Van Persie blazed over on 15, seconds later Cudicini was forced to come out but Eboue was unable to take advantage. On 25 Drogba ran through but failed to control. Five minutes before the break Gallas should have put the Gunners in front at the back post, the linesman had though flagged for offside. (First-half highlights here.) Early in the second-half, Drogba ran through again but was unable to finish, Gallas did well to put him off. Bacary Sagna broke the deadlock just before the hour mark, heading home at the near post from a Fabregas corner, his first goal in English football. With twenty minutes to go, seconds after a double substitution by Avram Grant, Didier Drogba equalised with a fine finish. And the Ivorian turned the game round, and potentially crushed Arsenal’s title hopes, with the second, Almunia could have done better with Drogba’s finish. (Second-half highlights here.) |

| | Arsenal 1 - 1 Aston Villa (1289)
01/03/2008
