Roma, one point behind Inter at the start of the final day of the Serie A season, took a vital early lead against relegation-threatened Catania thanks to a scintillating solo goal by Mirko Vucinic. Fevers were noticeably running high when Vucinic and Terlizzi faced-off resulting in a pair of yellows. Roma had keeper Doni to thank for holding their lead at the break, the shot-stopper producing a wonder save to deny Silvertri from a yard out. Catania, needing a win to guarantee survival, missed a hosts of opportunities to level before the home crowd began celebrating at the news of Inter’s lead at fellow strugglers Parma. Cantania continued to try and control their own destiny, Biagiani crashed a shot against the bar. Terlizzi thought he had brought Catania level but his header was ruled out for offside, but they finally got their deserved equaliser to survive when Martinez turned home the ball after a late scrap in the box. |

Inter Milan began nervously at relegation-threatened Parma, Cesar forced to save Morrone’s close range shot. Towards the end of the first half Julio Cruz saw his near-post header miss the target. After the break Inter got the crucial title winning breakthrough they craved, Zlatan Ibrahimovic bagging the all-important goal with a fabulous low strike from 25-yards that found the bottom corner. The title and also Parma’s fate were sealed in the 79th minute when Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his second with a sweet back-post volley. |

Juve hit their stride early on against Sampdoria, rolling back the years as Nedved burst forward and fed Del Piero, with the striker finishing with ease. The Bianconeri continued to press, and were rewarded when Trezeguet added a second from the spot after Del Piero was hacked down in the box. But Samp hit back. Antonio Cassano showed lovely close control on the left hand side before scoring a fine solo goal from a tight angle. And with Cassano bringing the crowd to life, Samp equalised as Cristian Maggio scored a screamer from 25 yards out with the outside of his right boot. Then, on the stroke of half time, Cassano missed a penalty to end a thrilling 45 minutes. Juve were reduced to 10-men when Sissoko was sent off on the hour, but the black and whites notched a third goal when Del Piero scored from the spot. But Samp refused to be beaten, and Montella hit the leveller 10 minutes from time after brilliant work from Cassano. |

Pippo Inzaghi missed a great chance to put AC Milan ahead in the derby, Cesar saved well after Kaka had put Inzaghi through and at the end of the first-half the veteran Italian striker fluffed an even easier opportunity. But after the break Inzaghi finally broke the deadlock, turning home Kaka’s cross with a flying header. And one quickly became two when Inter’s defence gave the ball away to Kaka, and the Brazilian bagged the second with aplomb. Julio Cruz pulled a goal back with a wonderful free-kick, but it was too little too late and Milan recorded a vital win in their quest for fourth spot. |

The Bianconeri sealed the three points when the unfortunately named Morrone’s freak header looped over the goalkeeper from the edge of the D. |

Pippo Inzaghi, seconds after missing a good chance, equalised two minutes after the Juve opener set-up by Kaka. On thirty the Rossoneri grabbed the lead, Pippo Inzaghi grabbed his second after lovely build-up play between Bonera and Ambrosini. On the stroke of half-time Salihamidzic equalised after Kalac had parried a header from Trezeguet, capping off a fine half of football. Midway through the second half Daniele Bonera was sent-off for Milan for a bad tackle on Sissoko and with ten minutes to go Salihamidzic headed in the winner for Claudio Ranieri’s men. |

But it was the visitors who got the opener, exploiting a static defence with Floccari bagging the goal. And three minutes before the break it got worse for Milan, as their creaking defence were again slow to react to the counter, and Langella made it two. Seedorf had a goal ruled out for offside, and Ambrosini had his header chalked off for a foul, as Milan chased the game. Late on Maldini pulled a goal back, before the game ended controversially when Nesta was sent off, and Pirlo missed a penalty in the 89th minute. |
