 | Liverpool 0 - 2 Chelsea (1232)
English Premier League
02/05/2010
If evidence was needed that Liverpool wanted to throw the league in Chelsea?s favour it arrived in the 32nd minute when Scouse captain Steve G played a shocking backpass towards Reina which Didier Drogba all-too-easily cut out, and the Ivorian rounded the keeper to score. (First half highlights here, while discussion of Gerrard?s pass can be seen here.) Nine minutes into the second half Chelsea scored a crucial second, Anelka crossed from the right and Frank Lampard slid his effort past Reina after Mascherano had kept the Blues onside. |
| | Burnley 0 - 4 Liverpool (2014)
English Premier League
25/04/2010
After a goalless first half Burnley?s Premier League survival hopes evaporated early in the second half when Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard cut in from the left and saw his right foot shot deflect off Leon Cort and past Jensen into the near post. In the 58th minute Stevie G bagged a classy second as he latched onto Aquilani?s slip to curled a right-footed beauty into the near top corner. The Reds the confirmed Burnley?s relegation with a third, Benayoun found Aquilani who released a long pass to Maxi Rodriguez and the winger hammered a shot past Jensen from 12 yards. A late fourth from Ryan Babel confirmed a horrible afternoon for Championship Burnley. |

 | Atletico Madrid 1 - 0 Liverpool (880)
EUROPA League
22/04/2010
Liverpool fell behind after 10 minutes at Atletico Madrid when a Jurado cross from the left found Diego Forlan unmarked in the box, and after he fluffed his initial header, the former Manchester United forward stabbed a shot off Reina?s legs and over the line. Both sides then suffered from poor offside calls, Diego Forlan was denied a goal-scoring opportunity for Atleti while Yossi Benayoun had a goal chalked off for a wrong decision by the linesman. Steven Gerrard had the chance soon after to draw Liverpool level by the Scouse captain fired his shot off target. After the break Forlan missed a chance to fire on Riena?s goal, but moments later when Simao cracked a volley on target Liverpool?s Spanish goalie made a fine save. The match had a flashpoint at the end when Ujfalusi appeared to jump on Kirgyakos? back. |

 | Liverpool 0 - 0 Fulham (425)
English Premier League
11/04/2010
Liverpool dominated for long periods in the opening 45 at home to Fulham, but a string defensive performance from the Cottagers kept the score goalless at the interval. Liverpool continued to create and spurn opportunities after the break and with it their top four dreams appear to have completely evaporated. |
| | Liverpool 4 - 1 Benfica (3461)
EUROPA League
08/04/2010
(Agg. 5-3) Dirk Kuyt headed Liverpool into the lead on the night (with a similar goal to the one he scored against Everton at Anfield) and level on aggregate with Benfica on 27 minutes with a goal that was allowed, then disallowed and then given with some bizarre officiating. The much maligned Lucas doubled Liverpool?s lead on the night seven minutes later thanks to a fine through ball by Stevie G. Liverpool?s third was a lightning break and an excellent team goal that saw Benayoun and Kuyt supply Fernando Torres to tap home from close range. Oscar Cardozo brought Benfica back in the tie with a deflected free kick for his third goal of the tie. Any hopes of a Benfica comeback were quashed by Fernando Torres who claimed his second of the night eight minutes from time with a classy finish. |

 | Benfica 2 - 1 Liverpool (1637)
EUROPA League
01/04/2010
Daniel Agger scored with a brilliant flicked finish from a Gerrard free-kick after just nine minutes at Benfica. With Liverpool down to ten men after Ryan Babel had been sent off, Oscar Cardozo equalised from the penalty spot after an Insua foul on Aimar on the hour. A second penalty from the ice cool Oscar Cardozo on 79, after Carragher had handled, gave Benfica a slender lead to take to Anfield. |
| | Liverpool 3 - 0 Sunderland (3257)
English Premier League
28/03/2010
Fernando Torres needed less than three minutes to break the deadlock with Sunderland, the Spaniard picked up the ball in a wide left position, jinked his way inwards before curling a stunner past Gordon for his sixth goal in four matches. A brilliant performance from Liverpool was rewarded with a second in the 32nd minute, a Gerrard corner fell to Glen Johnson on the edge of the box and the full-back?s drive deflected off Turner and into the near post. Fernando Torres struck the post in the 42nd minute, while the cameras caught legends Rush and Thommo on the edges of their seats as the chance came and went. The Reds killed the game on the hour when, in a crowded penalty area, Fernando Torres wrong-foots the entire Sunderland defence before calmly slotting the ball into an empty goal. |

 | Manchester United 2 - 1 Liverpool (2448)
English Premier League
21/03/2010
Liverpool?s recent hoodoo over Manchester United struck inside five minutes at Old Trafford when Gerrard drove towards the edge of the box and freed Duyt down the right, the Dutchman whipped in his cross and Fernando Torres steered his header in the far post. The Scousers then shot themselves in the foot when Mascherano foolishly allowed Valencia to fall in the box when he grabbed his arm, and Wayne Rooney equalised after Reina had saved his initial spot-kick. (Should the Argentine have seen red?) United controlled the match after the break, and their pressure told just before the hour when Darren Fletcher?s right wing cross was header home by Park Ji-Sung from close range. Liverpool rarely looked like finding an equaliser, with United returning to the top while Liverpool?s top four hopes were left in tatters. |

English Premier League
15/03/2010
Pompey hit the self destruct button after 25 minutes at Anfield when keeper Ashdown had his clearance closed down, the ball ran to Maxi to playing in Fernando Torres for the simple finish. One became two minutes later when intense Liverpool pressure finally saw Torres lay the ball off to Ryan Babel who prodded home from 10-yards. A fabulous six minute spell for the Reds was rounded off when Torres and Gerrard were involved before Alberto Aquilani cracked home his first Liverpool goal in front of the Kop. 13 minutes from time Fernando Torres bagged his second of the night to inflict more woes on Pompey, El Nino letting rip with a bullet strike into the near post. Nadir Belhadj denied the Merseysiders a clean sheet when the Algerian latched onto Piquionne?s volley across the face of the goal. |

Rafa Benitez?s side produced yet another insipid away display in Europe which bore many of the hallmarks of their defeat at Wigan earlier in the week. The only goal of the game came five minutes from time, Belgian wonderkid Eden Hazard whipped in a free-kick that eluded everyone to give the French side the advantage before the second leg at Anfield next week. |

 | Wigan 1 - 0 Liverpool (1084)

After creating the better chances in the first half, Wigan broke the deadlock against Liverpool in the 35th minute when Kuyt lost the ball on the edge of his own box, Boyce crossed to Hugo Rodallega and the striker scuffed his shot and past Reina and over the line. Liverpool were awful after the break and never looked liked finding an equaliser, allowing Wigan to claim their first ever win over the Reds. |
| | Liverpool 2 - 1 Blackburn (878)
English Premier League
28/02/2010
Liverpool broke the deadlock with Blackburn after 19 minutes, Gerrard spread the play to Yossi Benayoun out wide left and, after the Israeli had maneuvered into the box, Steven Gerrard was back on the scene to slip in the opener. A cheeky handball from Jamie Carragher while grounded in the Reds? box was seen by the officials, allowing Keith Andrews to bring Rovers level from the spot. But then Anfield saw the sight they?ve been missing for much of the season as Fernando Torres was able to restored Liverpool?s lead from a neat Maxi pass. |

 | Unirea Urziceni 1 - 3 Liverpool (1905)
EUROPA League
25/02/2010
A disastrous start for Liverpool as Fernandes rose completely unmarked from a corner to power a header past Pepe Reina. It didn?t take long for the Reds to equalize, eleven minutes to be precise. Unirea failed to clear their lines and the ball dropped to Mascherano who smacked a scorcher from 25 yards out into the back of the net. The goal-fest continued when a Steven Gerrard free-kick dropped to Ryan Babel at the back post and he prodded in. 10 minutes after the break Yossi Benayoun teed up Steven Gerrard who drilled a low shot past the unsighted keeper. |

 | Arsenal 1 - 0 Liverpool (2160)
English Premier League
10/02/2010
Arsenal had the better of the chances against Liverpool in the first half but in truth neither side looked like breaking the deadlock in opening 45. Midway through the second half Arsenal struck, Tomas Rosicky swung over a cross from the right and Abou Diaby rose high to crash a header into the Reds? net. The game ended in acrimony when Liverpool were denied a decision after Steven Gerrard?s injury time had free-kick struck Cesc Fabregas? raised hand. |
| | Liverpool 1 - 0 Everton (855)
English Premier League
06/02/2010
The first half of the Merseyside derby was more about the bad tackles and the furious tempo rather than actual goal mouth chances, with the main talking point concerning the sending off of Kyrgiakos in a filthy challenge with Fellaini that should have seen the Belgian dismissed too. Gerrard, after falling all to easily, went close with a free-kick while Cahill sent a point-blank header over the bar at the other end. Nine minutes after the break the 10-men of Liverpool struck as Dirk Kuyt was left unchallenged in the six yard box to head in a corner. Everton were impotent after falling behind and a disappointing day for the Toffees ended when Pineaar collected his second yellow at the death. |

 | Liverpool 2 - 0 Bolton (1275)
English Premier League
30/01/2010
Relief broke out at Anfield 10 minutes from the break as Liverpool took the lead against Bolton when Dirk Kuyt slid home after Insua crossed from the left and Aquilani did well to head the ball back across goal for the Dutchman. The Merseysiders made sure of the points midway through the second half when an Insua shot took a wicked deflection off Kevin Davies for 2-nil. |
| | Wolves 0 - 0 Liverpool (561)
English Premier League
