Tuncay gave Boro the lead at Anfield on 8 minutes, terrible attempt at playing offside from the Liverpool defence. Fernando Torres equalised for Liverpool on 28 minutes, set-up by an awful headed backpass from Julio Arca. Two minutes later El Nino got his second to put Liverpool in front with a great strike. Torres completed his hat-trick fifteen minutes into the second-half, finishing well after Schwarzer came out and did nothing. Stewart Downing pulled one back late on, but Boro’s hopes took a blow when Aliadiere was sent-off two minutes later.
