Burnley took a 2-goal lead at Eastlands, captain Graham Alexander opening from the penalty spot after Lescott handballed in the box, and Steven Fletcher had the simple job of tapping in number two after the City defence were torn open by the Clarets. The Citizens got a lifeline just before the break as Shaun Wright-Phillips netted a fine solo effort for Sparky?s charges. City then came flying out the traps at the beginning of the second period as Kolo Toure and Craig Bellamy fired the hosts into a 3-2 lead. But the Clarets proved resilient, Kevin McDonald grabbing a third for the visitors.
