In a dull opening, Pokrivac dragged a shot wide while Dudka put his header over the bar. Croatia were unlucky not to go in front when Rakitic’s free-kick was headed narrowly wide by Vejic on the stretch. Bilic’s side began to crank up the pressure, Artur Boruc did brilliantly to stop Klasnic from scoring when clean through. Boruc was once again Poland’s saviour when, seconds before the break, he smothered Klasnic’s shot after a great run. But Boruc could not hold the Croatians at bay, early in the second period, Ivan Klasnic finished after good work by Pranjic. Minutes later Guerreiro went close to equalising but his shot went the wrong side of the post. Croatia complete three wins out of three in the group and will face Turkey in the quarter-finals.
